About the slugify
Turn a title or phrase into a clean URL slug: lowercase, with spaces replaced by hyphens or underscores and punctuation removed. Use it for blog post URLs, page paths and file names. It updates as you type.
How to use it
- Type or paste your title.
- Choose a separator: hyphen or underscore.
- Copy the generated slug with the copy button.
Questions
- What is a URL slug?
- The readable part of a URL that identifies a page, such as how-to-bake-bread in example.com/blog/how-to-bake-bread.
- Should I use hyphens or underscores in URLs?
- Hyphens. Google's guidance recommends hyphens to separate words in URLs, because underscores can be read as joining words together.
- What happens to accented letters and symbols?
- Anything that is not a plain letter a–z, a digit, a space or a hyphen is removed, so "Café & Bar" becomes caf-bar. Replace accented letters by hand first if you want to keep them, for example "cafe".
