About the color converter
Enter a hex colour and get it in HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV and CMYK at once, each with a copy button. Useful for moving a colour between CSS, design tools and print specs.
How to use it
- Pick a colour with the swatch or type a six-digit hex code such as #3b82f6.
- Read the converted values in each format.
- Press the copy button next to the format you need.
Questions
- How do I convert HEX to RGB?
- Split the six hex digits into three pairs and convert each from base 16 to base 10. #3b82f6 becomes rgb(59, 130, 246).
- What is the difference between HSL and HSV?
- Both describe hue and saturation, but HSL uses lightness, where 100% is always white, while HSV uses value, where 100% is the brightest version of the hue. CSS supports HSL; many design-tool colour pickers use HSV.
- Is the CMYK value accurate for print?
- It is a straight mathematical conversion. Real print colour depends on the printer's colour profile, so treat it as a starting point and confirm with your printer.
- Can I enter an RGB or HSL value?
- Input is hex only, or the colour picker. Convert other formats by picking the colour visually or starting from its hex code.
