About the compress
Reduce the size of a PDF by optimising its internal structure, such as removing duplicate and unused objects. It is lossless: text and images look exactly as before. The PDF is uploaded to our server for processing, and the page shows the size before and after.
How to use it
- Click the upload area and choose a PDF.
- Click Compress PDF.
- Compare the original and compressed sizes.
- Click Download to save the optimised PDF.
Questions
- Does compressing a PDF reduce quality?
- Not with this tool. It optimises how the file is stored rather than recompressing images, so the pages look identical.
- Why did my PDF barely get smaller?
- Most of a scanned or photo-heavy PDF's size is its images, and this tool does not downsample or recompress them. Files with repeated fonts, duplicated resources or leftover unused objects shrink the most.
- How can I make a PDF small enough to email?
- Try compressing it here first. If it is still too large, splitting out only the pages you need with the extract tool often saves more.
