About the domain name checker
Check whether a name is registered across .com, .dev, .app, .co, .ai, .sh and .xyz at once, plus any other ending you type. Answers come from the domain registries over RDAP, the protocol that replaced WHOIS. When your first pick is gone, the name-ideas list builds alternatives from your words.
How to use it
- Type a name (yourname) or a full domain (yourname.io) into the box.
- Wait a moment while each ending is checked; rows turn Available, Taken or Couldn't check.
- If everything is taken, tap one of the name ideas below to check it instead.
- Register the one you want at a registrar, which has the final word on price and availability.
Questions
- How do I check if a domain name is available?
- Type the name and read the result for each ending. Available means the registry has no registration record for it; your registrar confirms the final price and whether it can actually be bought.
- Why does it say Couldn't check for some domains?
- Some endings, .io among them, have no public RDAP route, and some registries rate-limit or block lookups. Rather than guess, the tool marks those as unknown instead of available.
- Can a domain show as available but still cost more than usual?
- Yes. RDAP only reports whether a name is registered. Premium pricing, registry reserved names and recently expired names are not visible here, so check at a registrar before you commit.
- Does searching for a domain get it snapped up?
- The lookups go directly from your browser to the public registry services, not through a reseller, and this site does not log what you search for.
