About the launch checklist
A Product Hunt launch checklist split into four stages: assets and listing, landing page, infrastructure, and distribution. Each item says what to have ready and why, and links to a free tool where one helps. Progress is saved in your browser, so you can tick things off over a few weeks without an account.
How to use it
- Start with the Assets & listing section one to two weeks before launch.
- Tick each item as it is done; the progress bar at the top tracks all 22.
- Use the linked tool on an item, such as the OG image generator or UTM builder, to finish it.
- Come back on the same browser to pick up where you left off.
Questions
- What time should I launch on Product Hunt?
- Product Hunt's day resets at 12:01am Pacific Time, so posting then gives your launch the full 24 hours on the daily leaderboard.
- What size should Product Hunt gallery images be?
- Product Hunt recommends 1270x760 for gallery images. The checklist suggests 4 to 8 real screenshots rather than illustrations.
- How long should a Product Hunt tagline be?
- The tagline field is limited to 60 characters and the short description to 260. Say what the product does rather than how it feels.
- Can I ask people to upvote my launch?
- No. Product Hunt penalises vote solicitation. Asking people to try the product and leave feedback is allowed.
- Is my checklist progress saved?
- Yes, in this browser's local storage. It is not synced to other devices, and clearing site data or using a private window resets it.
