About the resize
Change an image's width and height in pixels. Type the dimensions you need, or pick a preset for a Product Hunt gallery image (1270×760), a Product Hunt thumbnail (240×240) or a social card (1200×630). The image is uploaded to our server, resized, and returned in the same format it came in.
How to use it
- Click the upload area or drop an image onto it.
- Pick a preset, or type a width and height in pixels.
- Leave "Maintain aspect ratio" ticked to scale proportionally, or untick it to force exact dimensions.
- Click Resize Image, check the preview, then click Download.
Questions
- How do I resize an image without stretching it?
- Keep "Maintain aspect ratio" ticked and set only the dimension you care about; the other is calculated from the original proportions. Choosing a preset sets both sides and turns the lock off, because a preset is a fixed target.
- Does resizing an image reduce quality?
- Shrinking discards pixels, but usually looks fine at the new size. Enlarging cannot add detail that was never captured, so an upscaled image looks softer than the original.
- What size should a social media preview image be?
- 1200×630 pixels is the common size for Open Graph link previews on sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and X, which is why it is one of the presets.
