About the crop
Cut an image down to a rectangle you define by its position and size in pixels. Quick buttons set a centred crop at 1:1, 16:9, 4:3 or 3:2, using the largest area of that shape the image allows. The image is uploaded to our server, cropped, and returned in its original format.
How to use it
- Click the upload area or drop an image onto it.
- Click an aspect ratio button for a centred crop, or type X, Y, width and height yourself.
- Adjust the X and Y position to move the crop area.
- Click Crop Image, then Download the result.
Questions
- How do I crop an image to a square?
- Click the 1:1 button. It fills in the largest square that fits inside the image, centred, and you can shift it with the X or Y fields before cropping.
- What do the X and Y values mean?
- They are the distance in pixels from the top-left corner of the image to the top-left corner of the crop area. X measures across, Y measures down.
- Does cropping reduce image quality?
- Cropping only removes the pixels outside the rectangle; the pixels you keep are not resized. JPEG files are re-encoded when saved, which can introduce a small amount of compression loss.
